Among so many trash comedies in the world, thank God: writer-directors Dominique Abel and Fiona Gordon offered us their fourth full-length film together. Even though this is the first time watching a movie of them, I can tell they had the ability to take me away to laugh about the most stupid and simple things.

Their humor can be translated in a link between visual aspects like colors and simple funny facts. In Paris pieds nus (Lost in Paris) the couple has managed to direct a comedy with so few conversations without being boring.

This was one of the final screen appearances of  the French pearl Emmanuelle Riva, an icon of movies like Amour by Michael Hanek and Hiroshima Mon Amour by Alain Resnais. She died in January 2017 at the age of 89 – two months before the film was released in France.

Lost in Paris is a story about Fiona (Fiona Gordon), a goofy naïve librarian from Canada, who receives a letter from her Parisian aunt Marthe (Emmanuelle Riva) asking for her help. Not knowing the place, Fiona goes alone to Paris and everything started going wrong from the beginning. The entire movie is a peculiar adventure full of ups and downs along with her new friend Dom (Dominique Abel).

Although this film is very simple it is unpredictable at the same time. Full of vivid colors and sounds this film attracted me by not being a usual humor.

No meio de tantas más comédias pelo mundo, eis que o casal Dominique Abel e Fiona Gordon nos oferecem a sua quarta longa-metragem juntos. Mesmo sendo a primeira vez que vejo um filme deles, posso dizer que eles têm a capacidade de me fazer rir pelas coisas mais estúpidas e simples.

O seu humor pode ser traduzido como uma conexão entre aspectos visuais como as cores; e acontecimentos engraçados e simples. Em Paris pieds nus (Perdidos em Paris), o casal criou uma bonita comédia onde o diálogo não é essencial.

Apesar de este ser um filme muito simples, é imprevisível ao mesmo tempo. Cheio de cores fortes e sons, este filme me atraíu-me por não ter um humor comum – e é assim que aprecio uma comédia.
