Even though there were lots of differences and obviously evolution in the decades of 60s and 70s, everything related to that period usually light up my curiosity. There’s something interesting about those times that inspires me in several ways. On this post I’ll introduce you a TV Series that ran precisely during the transition from 1969 to 1970.

Good Girls Revolt is a TV Series from 2015 – 2016 created by Dana Calvo based on a true story and inspired by the Lynn Povich’s 2013 book “The Good Girls Revolt: How the Women of Newsweek Sued their Bosses and Changed the Workplace”.

The story focuses on the battle of a group of women for equal rights in the workplace. They were looking for their right to be reporters instead of being called only as “researchers” in a place where they sometimes did all the work and the men took all the credit; and where they are even paid less under a group of those male reporters. Secretly and carefully they simply started a revolution.

Although it shows us a feminist tone following the women battle, the story also takes a look at the personal and professional lives of several employees – including men – at an American news magazine in 1969-70.

The fashion styles from the two decades also fascinate me. I can see some magic in the difference between them: it is easy to notice the elegant style in the sixties and the kinda messy-sexy style of the seventies, right? Well, this show, shows us the connection between both styles right during the transition of times in a perfect way. Although there were different ways of the style, the colours and the patterns kept similar.

Most of the  characters of the women follow the sixties style, while the character Patti clearly follows the trend for the seventies style – and there’s a beautiful connection between her style and her rebel personality.

Even though all the episodes were performed by a talented cast and following a great story, Amazon has canceled the show after the first season. This is an inspirational and powerful story to remind us how important is to follows our dreams and wishes. Who knows if it will continue by the hands of another distributor one day? I would love it :)

Foram muitos os acontecimentos naquela altura, que de certa forma me inspiram de várias formas. Neste post, apresento uma série de TV, passada exactamente durante a transição de 1969 para 1970.

Good Girls Revolt é uma série de TV de 2015 – 2016 criada por Dana Calvo baseada numa história verídica e inspirada no livro de 2013 de Lynn Povich: “”The Good Girls Revolt: How the Women of Newsweek Sued their Bosses and Changed the Workplace”.

A história é focada na luta de um grupo de mulheres pela igualdade de direitos no local de trabalho. Elas procuram pelo seu direito de serem repórteres, em vez de serem chamados apenas de “pesquisadoras”, onde por vezes fazem todo o trabalho e são os homens que recebem todo o crédito; onde são também muito pior pagas do que os homens. Secreta e cautelosamente, elas simplesmente começam uma revolução no mundo laboral.

Embora a série nos mostre um tom feminista por focar-se na luta das mulheres, a história também dá nos mostra a vida pessoal e profissional de vários funcionários da redação de uma revista de notícias americana em 1969-70 – incluindo homens.

A moda das duas décadas também é algo que me fascina. Consigo ver alguma magia na diferença entre estilos: é fácil notar o estilo elegante dos anos sessenta e o estilo mais desajeitado e sexy dos anos setenta, certo? Esta série mostra-nos uma conexão entre os dois estilos, exactamente durante a transição dos tempos de uma maneira perfeita. Embora os estilos fossem diferentes, as cores e os padrões continuavam semelhantes. A maioria das personagens segue o estilo dos anos sessenta, enquanto a personagem Patti segue claramente uma tendência para o estilo dos anos setenta – e há uma bonita ligação entre o seu estilo e a sua personalidade rebelde.

Apesar de todos os episódios terem seguido uma história muito interessante representada por um elenco talentoso, a Amazon cancelou a série após a primeira temporada. Esta é uma história inspiradora e poderosa para nos lembrar como é importante seguir os nossos sonhos e desejos. Quem sabe um dia não vai continuar nas mãos de outra distribuidora? Cá eu ia adorar :)
