When we think about Transylvania, it is true that Brașov is not the first thing that came to our head. Dracula is the guy, right? Well, Brașov is not just Dracula and his Castle which I unfortunately didn’t visit. It is a city in the Transylvania region of Romania, surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains. It resembles Hollywood with its giant letters on the top.
It was a quick trip for 2 days and no doubt it was a good surprise since I had no idea where I was going. It was right before the Summer season and the weather was really amazing with warm temperatures. It can turn into hot as hell during Summer as well as cold as heck during Winter with snow.
I am glad I got two amazing days. It’s a beautiful city, clean and full of flower beds. I felt it was a city with a great atmosphere with young people and lively coffee shops and even great bars during the night.
The Piaţa Sfatului – City Square – is situated in the old town with its cobbled streets and surrounded by colorful baroque buildings. It is easy to feel an active place in that main square, replete of nice people, markets and families playing around. I can’t wait to go back there and visit the Dracula guy next time. I mean, the Castle. I hope I won’t see him!
How to go: take a taxi or a bus from Bucharest until Brașov
What to do:
- walk around the city; buy a souvenir in the markets in the main square Piaţa Sfatului;
- visit the Church and discover every corner;
- take the funicular to the top of Tampa Mountain where are the BRASOV letters sign and enjoy the viewpoint above the city
To eat:
- Have a breakfast in the middle of the Piaţa Sfatului;
- there are plenty amazing coffee shops but try the Escargots a la Bistro in Bistro de l’Arte,
Quando pensamos em Transilvânia, é verdade que Braşov não é a primeira coisa que vem à nossa cabeca. é Drácula quem aparece, certo? Bem, Braşov não é apenas Drácula e o seu Castelo, que infelizmente não visitei. É uma cidade na região da Transilvânia da Roménia, cercada pelas Montanhas dos Cárpatos. A cidade faz lembrar Hollywood com letras gigantes no topo.
Foi uma viagem rápida de 2 dias e sem dúvida que foi uma surpresa muito boa, já que eu não fazia idéia do sítio para onde estava a ir. Foi antes do Verão e o tempo estava incrível com temperaturas quentes, muito boas. Brasov costuma ter temperaturas muito elevadas durante o Verão, bem como no Inverno, onde costuma nevar muito.
É uma cidade bonita, limpa e repleta de canteiros de flores coloridas, tudo muito arrumadinho. Senti a cidade com uma ótima atmosfera maravilhosa, cheia de jovens e cafés animados e óptimos bares durante a noite.
A Piaţa Sfatului – Praça da Cidade – situa-se na cidade velha rodeada por coloridos edifícios barrocos. É uma praça muito agradável, repleta de pessoas simpáticas; mercados e famílias a brincar. Mal posso esperar para voltar lá e visitar o Drácula na próxima vez. Quero dizer, o Castelo. Porque a ele, espero não ver!
Como ir: apanhar um táxi ou um autocarro de Bucareste até Braşov.
O que fazer: passear pela cidade; comprar um souvenir nos mercados na praça principal -Piaţa Sfatului; Visitar a Igreja; Apanhar o funicular para o topo da montanha, onde estão as letras BRASOV e aproveitar a vista sobre a cidade.
Onde comer: tomar o pequeno almoco no meio da Piaţa Sfatului; há cafés muito bons por toda a cidade, mas sugiro que experimentem os Escargots a la Bistro no Bistro de l’Arte.
