Leaving our parent’s house to study or just for an experience outside our own country is for many a true adventure. L’Auberge Espagnole shows us this side of life of young people who discover their similarities and their differences learning how to live with them and all together. Everything in the film is portrayed with great humor.

Xavier arrives in Spain totally desperate – unable to speak Spanish or Catalan, sad to leave his girlfriend behind, confused about who is or what ties can create in a foreign city. Looking for a place to stay, you end up finding a newly married French couple who offers you the sofa. Later, it finds a definite place: an apartment with seven students of nationalities as varied as their personalities and sexuality. According to Xavier, the multiplicity of languages ​​reminds the chaos that exists in his head.

There is a sequel, “Les Poupées Russes”, which I saw first. By seeing the movies in reverse order I have concluded that if there are orders we should respect them to understand better all the story.

Deixar a casa dos pais para estudar ou apenas por experiência, fora do país, é para muitos uma verdadeira aventura. “A Residência Espanhola” mostra-nos esse lado da vida de muitos jovens, que descobrem as suas semelhanças e as suas diferenças, aprendendo a conviver com elas. Tudo no filme é retratado com muito humor.

Xavier chega à Espanha totalmente desesperado – sem saber falar espanhol ou catalão, triste por deixar a sua namorada para trás, confuso sobre quem é ou que laços pode criar numa cidade estrangeira. Procurando um lugar para ficar, acaba por encontrar um casal francês recém-casado, que lhe oferece o sofá. Mais tarde, encontra um lugar definitivo: um apartamento com sete estudantes de nacionalidades tão variadas quanto as suas personalidades e sexualidade. Segundo Xavier, a multiplicidade de línguas faz lembrar o caos que existe na sua cabeça.

Existe uma sequela, “Les Poupées Russes“, que vi primeiro que o “L’Auberge Espagnole“. Vendo na ordem inversa, conclui-se que se há ordens, são para ser cumpridas ou depois o “diabo vai tecê-las” e não se percebe a história completamente.
